Ok so yesterday I was a bit challenged with the metro and regrettably I missed my Chilean friends for a trip to Versaille :( -- Luckily I have time to visit on my own, but they were really nice people and it would have been fun. The metros are not that hard really but I am still getting to know my way around them so a few hiccups are expected :) -- I used this time to go to the St. Michel/Notre Dame area and I absolutely LOVED, LOVED this area. It is in the 5th arrondissement (Latin Quarter) and It is quaint, charming, trendy and looks quite expensive :)
One thing about Paris everyone and I mean just about everyone smokes (everywhere -ok except the metros) but there are clearly no anti smoking laws. I had just finished a lovely lunch at an adorable restaurant when the woman behind and to the side of me lit up :) -- I could say it ruined it for me but it didn't. A little smoke was not going to get in the way of my moment damnit!!
The other thing is the entertainment on the metros. Well it's really people looking for tip money but the first day I saw a guy play the accordion. The day before a guys was singing in spanish (you know that song "Besame, besame mucho" - Hysterical - not even sure he was latino but he sang it anyway! and yesterday I was indulged with India singers (singing in their language) and quite well too even though I did not understand.
All in all I did not spend enough time in this area so I will be returning. I have attached pics of my excursion.
p.s. Isn't the roasted pig adorable??
Avec l'amour de Paris !
