Paris Neighborhood Tour

Bonjour mes amis!

Today was a cold and windy day in Paris.  Low 50's most of the day with quite a bit of winds.  It will drop to mid 40's tonight, brrrrr!

So I stayed in the neighborhood today.  I walked to the largest Mosque in Paris (It is quite big but I only walked the perimiter) and then made my way to Le Jardin des Plantes.  Both are within 5 blocks of my apartment.  The plant garden is very nice and offers a tremendous variety of plants.  Given that I don't know the names of plants in English, I certainly did not know them in French :)

I walked back to my neighborhood where I stopped for lunch at a small Cafe.  Of these there are hundreds so you just have to choose.  I went inside and thankfully the boy knew English.  Many times I get stuck and have to use hand gestures which then makes me laugh!  The food I must say was pretty good and  reasonably priced compared to some of the prices I see.  The young man was from Bangladesh and told me he wanted to go to Finland??  I could not resist to ask why and he told me he had a friend who moved there ten years ago and is now married to a Finnish woman, has two kids, two houses and drives a Mercedes.  How about that for a response??

I then went to the grocery story and decided to call it a day!  The wind is atrocious and makes it that much colder.  Plus I am still tired from yesterday's marathon walk :)

Tomorrow I will make my way to Rue Mouffetard where I read they offer more entertainment and more markets on Sunday mornings.

p.s. they sell these little soda cans (approx. 3.5 inches tall) so I bought one today.  I'm sure they are only worth one gulp but very cute!!

Avec L'amour de Paris
